Album Release Spotlight – High Fidelity

Novembers Album Release Spotlight is the new album from Rebel Records recording artists High Fidelity that was release back on September 15th with the title of “Music In My Soul”. Paul Williams once quoted, “Life is a journey; no matter what comes or goes, it’s sweeter to have a song in your heart and music in your soul”. Keeping the thoughts of this quote and bringing some older loved gospel songs back to life, this newly released CD is definitely going to be a keepsake.

“Music In My Soul” starts off with a great tune by the Brewster Brothers, “I’m Ready To Go”. This song is an upbeat song that shares the feeling of having the faith of being ready to go Home. The next three songs, “Walking With My Savior”, “I’ll Be No Stranger There”, and “I Need the Prayers” are songs that were all inspired by The Lewis Family and Reno & Smiley. All three of these songs have their own style, tempo but continue to share their strength in the faith and love of their Savior.

Corrina Rose Logston Stephens, fiddler with High Fidelity, contributed the bands’ first ever “original” song, “The Mighty Name of Jesus”. This toe tapping, quick stepping song will have you singing along in no time. Following this powerful and joyous song is the title track song, “Music In My Soul”. This song takes you back to the early 1920’s with a project done by the Jones County, Mississippi Bush Family. The vocals on this song truly gives you that old small church feeling.

Halfway through the CD, you will continue celebrating with the lively instrumental piece “There Is Power in the Blood” that was a gospel classic back in 1899. On the next three songs, High Fidelity showed their own interpretation of the musical sermons – “The Storm” and “My Lord Is Taking Me Away” were songs done by Wanda Dalton and Randall Hylton of Floyd County, VA. The song “The Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn” in between these two is one from Ralph Stanley. The compilation and presentation that High Fidelity gave makes this album a great collection of gospel songs to allow you to worship the Almighty in the great bluegrass style.

The rendition of the Pleasant View Quartet’s version of “I’m a Pilgrim” shows the strong vocals off from High Fidelity. The blend is beautiful and sounds great. High Fidelity performs Carl Story’s “My Lord Keeps a Record” in a great traditional bluegrass sound. “Are You Lost in Sin” by Jim & Jesse reels you back in with the quicker tempo and reminds you that God is still calling for you. The CD ends with the song “We’re Living in the Last Days Now” by the Bailes Brothers’ and wow, what a way to end a CD. It is a song that makes you question some things now-a-days and understand the important of gospel music in our lives.
