Album Release Spotlight – Seth Mulder & Midnight Run

For the month of June, I am highlighting Rebel Records debut released album “Coming On Strong” by Seth Mulder & Midnight Run. The last album “In Dreams I Go Back” for Seth Mulder & Midnight Run contained chart-topping songs and won the 2023 SPBGMA Song of the Year for “My, My, My”. “Coming On Strong” is going to be another album to keep your eye on.

The title track, “Coming on Strong” was written by David Wilkins and is a great title for the album that has songs that will reach a wide band of audience. The entire album has songs that can be appealing to traditional bluegrass fans, older/young fans and fans from abroad. This new album is a whole new level for the Seth Mulder & Midnight Run band. If you have been a fan of the band, then I feel you’re going to see that they stepped out of there comfort zone and nailed it!

“Heartbreak Express” kicks off the album with a great upbeat tempo that takes you on a train ride of heartbreak. While you slow down the speed a little, you get to experience a story of a couple of kids on the “Rider on an Orphan Train” song. “Gilgarry’s Glen”, current single out, is an awesome Scottish bluegrass song that brings the sounds from abroad to the states.

Seth Mulder & Midnight Run took the 1972 Don Stover song “Old Rueben No. 1” and gave it that sound and speed that many bluegrass fans are enjoying today. It is definitely a song that fiddle players will want to join. Another song that they brought onto the album was the 1991 song “1916” from the British Rock band Motörhead. “1916”, a song about soldiers heading off to war, was brilliantly recreated as a bluegrass song.

Whether you are a traditional bluegrass fan or a fan that likes some of the newer styles of bluegrass sounds, you will enjoy this entire album. The outcome of the “Coming on Strong” album is truly a strong testament of how talented the Seth Mulder & Midnight Run band members are.

You can check out “Coming On Strong” on any music platform that you use. Also make sure to check out the Seth Mulder & Midnight Run website www.midnightrunbluegrass.com for their music, show schedule, merchandise and additional information about the band.
