Many people can be described as professional, hardworking and diverse, but Michelle Lee takes these qualities to another level. Michelle Lee has pioneered a weekly show that has provided listeners a wide range of education and entertainment and through that, has exposed many new artists to her listeners. Every on-air show she performs, you will experience her passion, creativity, diversity, and drive to be the best. Along with being on-air, she has also been the emcee at several Bluegrass Festivals, events and cruises. She is known by her colleagues and listeners as “All Things Bluegrass”.
Working on-air for more than 25 years, the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) named Michelle Lee as Broadcaster of the Year for 2019. Prior to her win she was nominated for the IBMA Broadcaster of the Year in 2017 and 2018 and is nominated once again this year (2022). Recently, the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) named Michelle Lee the 2022 Bluegrass DJ of the Year Prior to her win she was nominated for SPBGMA Bluegrass DJ of the Year 2020.
Michelle Lee is a member of the Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2020. Being part of the Leadership Class, provided her the opportunity to participate in a platform with multiple workshops. Through this experience, she has gained a greater appreciation and better understanding of all aspects in the music industry, which she then applied this knowledge to become a better On-Air Radio Personality.
Currently, she is the host of Smoked Country Jam Monday thru Friday from 7am-11am and Bluegrass Borderline every Sunday from 12pm-5pm on “Gold Country” WOBL 107.7FM/1320AM. The Bluegrass Borderline show is syndicated, being shared with SBB Radio Network and Bluegrass Planet Radio. Over the past few years, Michelle Lee decided to merge her Smoked Country Jam and Bluegrass Borderline shows to provide a greater opportunity for artists to do interviews (live or over phone), giving fans an opportunity to hear from their favorite artists.
Michelle Lee loves sharing Country and Bluegrass music in the hope of providing an escape from your busy day. She may play a song that reminds you of your loved one or a special memory, or just the rhythms from the beat or picking that just make you want to dance. Sometimes there is that song that makes you think of that special someone and makes your heart skip a beat or that song that has you closing your eyes to introduce/rekindle your connection to God. Do yourself a favor and tune into Michelle Lee’s next on-air show at WOBL Radio, SBB Radio, Bluegrass Planet Radio or WSTP Radio and make your day better.
