The Kody Norris Show – Album Release Spotlight

As the United States celebrates its semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary this year, the multi-award-winning band, including 2026 SPBGMA Entertainers of the Year, are delivering the ultimate musical birthday gift. Arriving exactly when the country needs it most, Spirit of America marks the first-ever concept album from The Kody Norris Show. True to form, the band bypasses modern culture wars to deliver a full-throated, rhinestone-and-fringe celebration of the grit, sacrifice, and everyday grace that built this nation.

This isn’t a political statement—it’s a revival. Packed with blazing, high-energy bluegrass and lyrics that cut straight to the heart, the entire album maintains the upbeat, driving tempo fans love and expect from the band, all while showcasing extraordinarily strong instrumentation from start to finish.

Here is an exclusive, track-by-track look into the songs that make up this incredible tribute to the red, white, and blue:

  • “Good Ol’ USA”
Co-penned by Kody Norris and close friend, Grand Ole Opry square dancer Larry Chunn, this original track serves as an instantly uplifting, crowd-pleasing tune that sets a joyful tone for the project.
  • “Spirit of America”
Written by Aubrey Holt. The powerhouse title track has already transformed into a rallying cry at live shows. It stands as a proud anthem to the heart of the American people, explicitly honoring the farmers, EMS workers, police officers, coal miners, and hardworking individuals who serve as the true backbone of the nation.
  • “A Purple Heart”
Written by Curly Seckler. An aching, deeply moving story of a mother losing her son in service to her country. The track follows what becoming a “Gold Star Parent” is about and receiving one of the military’s most solemn and deeply respected honors: the Purple Heart.
  • “Back In The Country”
Written by Edward G. Futch. Pulling listeners straight to Mountain City, Tennessee, and every small town just like it, this track paints a vivid, enticing picture of everything the countryside has to offer, reminding every born country child exactly what they’ve been missing.
  • “The Power and Glory”
Written by Phil Ochs. Beautifully sung by Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris, this track serves as a stunning, heartfelt tribute to the land we love.
  • “The Bible on the Table and The Flag Upon The Wall”
Penned by Paul Cunningham, Leonard Whitcup, and George Bennett. A brilliant reimagining of Gene Autry’s 1949 classic. It serves as a striking meditation on what has been traded away in the age of social media, reminding us that these two symbols remain the steady backbone of our country—standing for the exact same values whether you are working the family farm or sailing the high seas.
  • “Declaration of Independence”
Created by Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris. Making band history, this powerful track marks the first time The Kody Norris Show has ever included a fully instrumental song on an album, proving that sometimes the most profound patriotic statements don’t require a single word.
  • “Waving Ol’ Glory”
Written by Rick Lang. A standout performance that features a blistering guitar solo, putting the world-class skills of Kody Norris on full display while honoring our flag as the ultimate symbol of freedom.
  • “Davy Crockett”
Written by George Burns and Thomas Blackburn. The band breathes fresh bluegrass life into the American songbook with their own unique spin on the beloved folk classic.
  • “United We Stand”
An original piece written by Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris and Conrad Fisher. Featuring Mary Rachel on lead vocals, it is a unifying song dedicated to everyone who stands together for what they believe in, celebrating our neighbors and our shared love for the red, white, and blue.
  • “The Battle of New Orleans”
Written by Jimmie Driftwood. A definitive highlight and a personal favorite on the album. The fast-tempo folk classic serves as the absolute perfect vehicle for Kody Norris’s signature, lightning-fast vocal delivery.
  • “Do Unto Others”
Written by James Randolph. A track that carries a message that refuses to let go, centering on a Golden Rule and reminding us all of one of the biggest, most enduring lessons we are taught when we were young.

Spirit of America is the perfect soundtrack for the summer of celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the USA, suited for every backyard barbecue, small-town parade, and flag-raising in between. We still have something incredibly special here in the United States—and The Kody Norris Show doesn’t just know it; they celebrate it with every single note.
